How long or short can I hire a campervan for?

You can hire for as long or as short as you like. At Acle A’s we know a weekend away can be just as important as taking a long break. Whatever your decided length of trip, our Acle A’s will help you to explore the fantastic outdoors, no matter what the weather.

What’s included in the price?

At Acle A’s Classic VW Campervan Hire Ltd we like to be upfront about our prices and pride ourselves on providing great value for your Great British holiday. Included in our prices comes unlimited mileage, electric hook up cables and charging ports from a leisure battery, a full range of cooking equipment (including built-in gas stove, cutlery, utensils, and camping chairs), fridge, small portable toilet for all off road excursions, and full insurance and breakdown cover should you need to use it.

All of our campervans will be ready for pick-up with a full tank of fuel ready for you to navigate the Norfolk countryside. We politely ask that the vans are returned back to us in the same condition and topped up with fuel.

What optional extras can I get?

If you need an extra bedroom or a little bit more outdoor space, we can offer our fantastic drive-away awnings with a spacious inner tent for just £50 per hire. Our awnings are easily inflated using the included manual pump, and will remain safe and secure during your camping holiday, even if you decide to take the van away for a day trip or two.

The drive away awnings are currently only available for hire with our Volkswagen T25’s (not the blue one!).

How do you keep the campervans COVID-19 safe?

Prior to your arrival at our headquarters in the beautiful village of Acle, Norfolk, we thoroughly clean, sanitise, and air our campervans to ensure both you and your family’s safety before your trip.

All vehicles are sprayed with Bio Blast interior sanitiser that has been proven effective against a wide range of pathogens including COVID-19, surfaces and touch points are cleaned and sanitised using hot soapy water and Ultra Ax Viricidal/Bacterial Disinfectant spray, and all crockery and cookware are cleaned using antibacterial dish soap before and after use.

At Acle A’s we know coronavirus safety is at the forefront of everyone’s mind at the moment. When you collect or return our vehicles we will always comply with all current UK government social distancing guidelines.

Who can drive the campervans?

Anyone aged 23-75 with a full UK driving license for 2 years are eligible to drive our campervans. Up to four nominated drivers can be signed on contract to drive your campervan, however, all drivers must comply with the specifics of our campervan rental insurance:

  • Driver(s) must have held a full UK driving license for a minimum of two years.
  • Driver(s) must not have been issued a driving suspension or been in more than one fault incident in the last three years.
  • Driver(s) must not have obtained more than 2 convictions of a maximum of 3 points each (including BA, DD, or UT convictions).

If you answer yes to any of the above requirements or are outside of the age range of 23-75 and would like to rent a classic VW campervan from us in Norfolk, please don’t hesitate to still get in touch as we will always notify our insurance advisors who may be able to permit rental on a case-by-case basis. Is a special license required to drive the vans?

No special license is required! A normal, full UK driving license is sufficient to drive all of our vans.

Can other people drive the vans?

Up to 4 named drivers are allowed during your campervan rental. Only drivers who are named in our insurance documents and comply with all driving requirements (See: “Who can drive the campervan?”) can drive the during the proposed rental agreement.

How much is the security deposit?

A £100 non-refundable booking fee is required to secure and confirm your preferred dates, and a £300 damage deposit is also taken at the beginning of hire via credit card, bank transfer or cash, and will be kept securely until you return the vehicle back to us. In case of any loss or damage to the campervan, the damage deposit will be used to pay for replacement and/or repairs, otherwise we’ll return the full deposit straight back to you upon vehicle return.

For your peace of mind, we always perform a campervan walk-around with prior to signing the contract to highlight any areas or locations on the van that may already be damaged, all of our vans are pre-loved and boast a wide range of camping experience!

What do I need to bring with me?

We politely ask that you bring your own bedding, pillows and sleeping equipment for your trip. Food and drink are (unfortunately) not included in the price of hire, but the inclusion of fridges in all of our vans allow you store all of your favourite nibbles and tipples.

We know first-hand how much equipment can sometimes be needed to have a relaxing camping holiday and road trip, and that’s why at Acle A’s VW Campervan Hire Ltd we are thrilled to be able to provide you with all of the essential cooking and camping gear at no extra cost.

Am I able to leave my car with Acle A’s?

Yes, we have on-site parking available for use by Acle A’s Classic VW Campervan Hire customers. Although we accept no responsibility for customers cars when they are left with us, Acle A’s HQ is covered by CCTV and is where we trust our campervans to be parked overnight when they aren’t in use.

What times am I able to collect and return the campervan?

All of our campervans can be picked up from 11am on the day of hire, and returned back to us by 2pm at the end of your holiday. If you encounter delays or disruptions on your travels and need to change these times, we can be readily contacted via our Facebook messenger or phone details provided to you at the start of hire.

Are the campervans pet-friendly?

At Acle A’s we know how much your pets mean to you, but we also respect the fact that not everyone is able to live with animal hairs in our vans. We therefore charge a small £35 pet cleaning fee to account for the extra-thorough cleaning we undertake to make sure the vans are allergen-friendly for the next hire; this includes using both a wet and dry hoover with antibacterial cleaning supplies. If you have any special requirements prior to hire, please get in touch and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs.

Where can I take the campervan?

Our campervans come included with the scope to do unlimited mileage throughout the United Kingdom. Whether you fancy surfing in sunny Cornwall, hiking in the Lake District or just relaxing with a locally brewed ale on the Norfolk Broads, Acle A’s Classic VW Campervan Hire Ltd is the most comfortable answer to exploring the Great British outdoors on your doorstep.

Our current insurance policy does not allow for the vans to be used abroad and in the EU.

Will somebody be there to show me how to work my campervan?

When you arrive for to pick up your van from us, we will take you through all of the working parts of the van including how to operate the cooker, water pump, heater, light switches and charging ports comfortably and comprehensively. Don’t worry it’s much easier than you think! This is an informal demonstration where we are always open to questions to make sure you feel comfortable when operating the different aspects of your UK holiday adventure.

All of the information to work your campervan is also provided to you in your customised van brochure, including photos and simple instructions. We are also always available by phone to help you during your trip.

Will I be insured?

Yes, included in the price of hire is fully comprehensive self-drive vehicle insurance and breakdown cover. Should you experience any mechanical difficulties with your van during your trip away, you are covered by roadside recovery and return trip services that make sure you are able to return home safely.
